I have been through the battle with Death Oni a number of times and never thought to look over the edge until tonight. I now am facing a new reality - THAT THIS GAME CAN BE SCARY!!! lol - jk.
As you approach to do battle with Death Oni, look to the right and below the horizon. You will see a bluish face for a few seconds. It will disappear and reapppear.
I hope that I do not have nightmares because of the scary face.
Now be sure to give the developer/programmer a cookie and a pat on the head. Well done!

8)What face? Plz make a video on youtube to show me. I am in mooshu but i just beat the war oni. Plz tell me what do it looks like. Normally, COOL scary like the wraith(i can draw) or specture, is not scary to me!

HOW scary i just started in mooshu hopefully i dont flip out of my chair like i almost did on this crazy ghost video NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER! look up ghost videos on you tube THEY ARE MESSED UP so yea how scary is it scary anough to make me yell OMG THIS IS DANG SCARY lol. note. prob gonna get a whole new out fit cause i am almost a lvl 45 WOOT
The face also appears when you use the Terminus staff (level 45) in battle. Just watch for the face as the energy from the attack rises above the enemy and then falls to the floor. (It may also be part of other staff attacks associated with the Death School that have a similar attack pattern.) :-)
The face also appears in the Ancient Burial Grounds at the location where you fight Tomugawa the Evil in order to collect the Spirit Cage. :)
Eh... After i beat the wraith, i looked around but there is just red clouds. A red sky with red clouds. I stared the sky but i still see nothing. Are you sure there is that mysterior face there too? :|
Oh! I saw it. Is nothing that scary man! I have already saw something that is really more scary than that! That is not even scary! If you stare careful a specture's face, you will think even that is more scarier!
i cant find the face :( all i see is the background. also is this just the face that comes off of otomo's staff of dreaming if you look closely on the part that glows
You'll need to look down in order to see it - look below the horizon and wait - it should appear (refer to the original post). :)
It undoubtedly is a joke from a developer.
There is a long history of things being placed into programs by developers/programers. I remember one easter egg which involved the programer, an axe, and his bosses. Needless to say, the bosses eventually found out (long after the game had been released) and they were not happy with him. But he was a top programer at that time.
THAT FACE IS NOT SCARY it is not even me and my friend even said it was awesome and took pictures of it not scary so any one who has not seen it it is not really that scary and honestly dont see what so scary about it :? :
I have seen many details in some of the boss rooms that show the great artistic work of much of this game.
Mallistaire's Lair is especially wonderful. While fighting him, be sure to notice the dragon eye that appears in the background. I was unable to find this again after the battle.
I need to go back and find the "scary" face that I have not seen.
A scary face also appears in Lord Nightshade's personal attack (where he hits you himself). In happens so fast - It might be the same face as mentioned above.
When approaching to do battle against Kagemoosha/Death Oni (Tree of Life) and Tomugawa the Evil (Ancient Burial Grounds), you pass eight towers (four on each side). The last tower on the right often has a flame that is replaced by a blue light. That blue light is the same "scary" face that is mentioned in the original post. They appear, disappear, and then reappear at the same time.
I think an appropriate name for this mysterious and “scary” face would be Dr. Death.

i haven't seen it. But now i'm kind of freaked out to look! lol
