what happened to my total critical rating hit?

I leveled up a bit since I completed Polaris, and it seems like even though I haven't changed anything with my wizard, I've been automatically made less likely to go critical; my critical hit used to be 20% for a critical rating of 206, and now for some reason it's only 1% for 206. did I do something wrong? am I being punished? what happened?

You're not going crazy.

Critical ratings go down as you level.

What, that's crazy talk!?!

What this means is beyond level 50, Critical and Block get a penalty. So, it’s .1% per level over 50.

Wait, it gets better, different items have different penalty levels too.

Here's an excellent article that breaks this out, with examples really well:http://www.duelist101.com/news/site-news/wizard101-critical-calculator/

And here's another article that further explores Critical Stats:

It is possible to get your critical rating above 90%. You have to find pets with higher critical ratings to hatch with, use critical jewels, and continue to find and use better items, gear and weapons with increased critical ratings, as they become available.

And if anyone does get their wizards up to 100% Critical Ratings, please share in this, and other forum postings.

Your chance of having a critical hit decreases as you level up. Therefore, you must supply yourself with new gear every once in a while in order to keep that number up.
