A few days ago I noticed that the mechanics of empowerment have changed from granting the user one pip per effect of the incoming spell (for example an incoming efreet would give one pip for the hit and one pip for the weakness), to granting only one pip per spell regardless of any additional effects. This I feel has severely crippled a very interesting and useful spell. In pvp it could be used to protect against spamming of powerful spell such as lore master(which would give three pips). It was never overpowered, but instead allowed for unique and creative strategies in pvp.
If anyone from kingsisle reads this I beg that in your next minor update empowerment is reverted back; it is not a large change, but it is one I feel would have a noticeable positive effect on pvp.
