Feedback Friday 9-11-15

AuthorMessage

Hello, everyone! Friday has returned, yet again, and that means it's time for Feedback Friday!

In our birthday month, let's keep the nostalgia going. Our first Feedback Friday was August 6, 2010. Let's try this one again, over 5 years later! Your task this week is to write your own quest!

If it were up to you, and you had the whole spiral at your fingertips, what would you do? Here are the rules:
1. Must use existing characters in game.
2. No more than 10 steps long.
3. Each dialogue snippet must be less than a tweet's length (140 characters) and no more than 3 snippets per step.
4. Let us know what sort of loot/experience/gold/etc you'd give as a reward.

You can keep it as short as you'd like (Falmea gives you a quest to perfect her hot sauce recipe - it doesn't go as planned) or you can write out all the details as I did in the previous post!

Have a wonderful weekend, Wizards!

Standard disclaimer applies: We do not guarantee to use each and every idea submitted, and questions we pose may or may not be pertaining to things we are currently working on, or will ever undertake. Sometimes, there are just technical limitations that make changing things difficult to impossible, and though we possess all manner of magic wands here, there are technological beasts out there that are beyond our grasp. Sometimes, we may not feel it is within the spirit and vision of the spiral to add or change something. Also, we realize that some of these topics may have been addressed before in other threads - sometimes it's good to pick up a discussion again. Chances are I have read your threads and would like to hear more!

Drogan Clayfingers: Someone in Cool ranch ordered a huge supply of custom painted pots. And my materials ran dry.

I've heard you’re not above doing errands for strangers, so I’ll ask you for help.

First I’ll need a lot of clay. The canyon ragers in Mirkholm keep have some clay in them, go extract it.

Defeat Canyon Ragers and collect 12 clay (moderate drop rate)

Talk to Drogan Clayfingers

Drogan Clayfingers: That should be enough, but the order specifically said custom painted.

To be specific, I need red and blue paint. And wouldn’t you know it, the grendels have it.

They don’t even have a use for it, other than giving us trouble. Try the mossbacks and wartlings.

Defeat Grendel Mossback and collect 6 blue paint (low drop rate)
And
Defeat Grendel Wartling and collect 6 red paint (high drop rate)

Talk to Drogan Clayfingers

Drogan Clayfingers: Good timing, I just finished shaping the pots. Give me that paint.

Narrator: Drogan spends a fair chunk of time painting the pots, closely following some un-grizzleheim-like patterns he has.

Drogan Clayfingers: There, now take these to Baldur Goldpaws at the dock. Tell him they’re for Raven Eyes.

Talk to Baldur Goldpaws

Baldur Goldpaws: The shipment of pots for Raven Eyes? I was expecting Drogan to bring them.

Well as long as they got here, it’s good. I have a few more items to wait for, then I’ll take these to Cool Ranch.

Heres the payment, take it back to Drogan. Why does a bison want pots? I think they’re meant to be funeral urns or something.

Talk to Drogan Clayfingers

Drogan Clayfingers: Yes the payment, I think it’s only fair to give you a cut. An artist needs to buy his materials from somewhere you know.

And if you don’t mind me asking, what are those pots to be used for anyway?

Funeral urns? Those bison are a strange people, but they do make good trading partners.

Reward: 135 gold, 335 experience, Drinking Jug housing item

In a previous post I wrote about making a pet gauntlet for leveling up pets and having it be a story. my story idea is the wizard finding and returning stolen pets.

Ambrose summons the wizard and says "I have received a report that several pets have been stolen from Sir Nigel Higgenbottom the arena ticket vender in the pet pavilion will you investigate?

Then the wizard goes to Sir Higgenbottom who says to the wizard "Please help, some villains have stolen some of the pets I have for sale. I need your help to get these pets back?" He gives the wizard a map with marks that show possible caves where the stolen pets have been taken. On the map it also says pets cannot be freed without the aid of the wizards pet. Wizard says "I wonder what that means. I shell soon find out." the wizard sets off for the first cave marked on the map. The map shows five caves that have not been explored before by the wizard.

These pets have been stolen so that the evil bosses can have pets that will match the wizard's pets once the pets have been cursed into serving the evil bosses. The stolen pets face the possibility of being transformed like the bees Morganth changed into Goliath's. The pets that have been stolen will not have a happy life unless the wizard frees them.

First cave the wizard enters and finds a maze with instructions wizard pet must complete the maze to get to the trapped pet at the other end. when pet finishes this maze and successfully frees the stolen pet the reward will be that wizard's pet is now a teen.

wizard and pet go to second cave and find a matching game were the pet has to match patterns to get to the trapped pet and free it for a reward of level up to adult.

wizard and pet go to third cave in this cave there are ghosts coming in waves which the wizards pet must zap all of so as to make it through to where the stolen pets are trapped. once the pet has freed the trapped pets then the pet reward will be level up to epic.

continued from page one

wizard and pet go to cave four. In cave for the wizard finds two bosses with two minions. once the wizard with pet defeats these the pet must retrieve a key and free the stolen pet. these bosses say, you won't defeat us but if you do there are four bosses in the next cave." The reward will be that the pet is level epic.

The wizard and pet go to cave five. In cave five they find four bosses the wizard must defeat the four bosses with the pet. When the battle is won the four bosses drop keys to the remaining cages so the wizards pet collects those and then uses then to open the doors. the pet must push the stop button on each trap before the potion is put on the stolen pets. once all the pets are free. the pet reward is level mega.

The wizard and pet leave the last cave and bring sir Higgenbottom all the freed pets. sir Higgenbottom says to the wizard "Thank you for bringing back all these pets for that I will reward your pet with the level of ultra and a choice of one ultra pet jewel." end of gauntlet story.

Hmm... I did remember going through & completing every quest in Azteca & found that other than the Zeke quest, there's no side quests that gave bonus Training Points in Azteca, not like Celestia, Zafaria & Avalon.

That said, here's my thoughts on writing a particular quest of my own in Azteca that rewards Wizards a bonus Training Point...
  • Quest Name: Unearthing History
  • Character: Xipli Tailbiter
  • Location: Three Points
  • Step 1: Find Historic Slab in Forgotten Mine in Cenote
  • Step 2: Defeat Amar ShadeHand (Boss Creature, Shadow-Web Excavator) & collect Historic Slab in Forgotten Mine
  • Step 3: Talk to Xipli Tailbiter in Three Points
  • Hand in: Xipli Tailbiter
  • Rewards: 580 Gold, 28,350 XP, +1 Training Point
Decided not to write out dialogue in this, character limits in this & all. I can leave that to you. Hope you don't mind.

Well, since Azteca's got plenty of empty places & there aren't any other quests that give out Training Points presently, I thought I might as well get this to your attention. Hope this quest idea of mine works out well, Professor Falmea!

Thanks again for listening!

The Haunted Outfitter-This is a new, seasonal, Halloween event quest.

Level 35+
Spooky Bob in the Shopping District has a new quest for you!
Spooky Bob: "Wizard! Wizard can you help me? My new shipment of wares has gone missing! The last place my shipment was seen was in the Haunted Cave."

"I suspect Lord Nightshade had something to do with it, can you go defeat him and find out what he knows?"

You enter Nightshade's tower.
Lord Nightshade: "You again? I've had enough of you young wizard! I will finish you once and for all."

You defeat nightshade, he has his usual rewards/gold with and added chance of the new Costumes and new Candy Corn Pet.

Lord Nightshade: "Fine! I did buy some crates of gear from a hooded peddler, but I had nothing to do with the heist."

"I'm not sure who was behind it, but I'm guessing they were from Marleybone. I found a dog bone in one of the crates."

"Go talk to Meowiarty, he's the top dog, erm cat there."
+50 XP

You go to Big Ben. You have to complete the instance.

Meowiarty: "Yes, I took those crates young wizard! They are the perfect disguises for my next big plan! You'll never get them from me!"

You defeat Meowiarty. He leaves a crate behind for you to collect and bring to Spooky Bob.
Usual drops/gold except for a chance for any of the new gear/new pet/new mount when defeating Meowiarty.

You return to Spooky Bob with the crate.
Spooky Bob: "Oh thank you so much wizard! Please, accept this as a token of my gratitude."

Quest Reward: Haunted Tree Wand, 500 Gold, 300 XP

New gear, no stats: Ghost Costume-Hat/Robe/Shoes (shoes are invisible so wizard appears to float)
Clown Costume-Hat/Robe/Shoes
Skeleton Costume-Hat/Robe/Shoes
Zombie Costume-Hat/Robe/Shoes
Candy Corn Pet-(40 pedigree)
Black Bat Mount-(perm, +40)
And I'd love anything that expanded Halloween on Wizard101

Especially a side world all about Halloween.

And it would be awesome to have a Christmas/Wintertime side world to Professor Greyrose's home-world. Every or any year each world could be expanded and only come out at those holiday times. A whole year to add bits and only a month or two to deal with people playing them. :D could be nice for everyone.

Great quests, Wizards! Thanks for participating, and I'll have a new topic up shortly.
