When you only have power pips you never want to use a 1 pip spell because it will use up the power pip even if it's your school so you just end up passing the round. So what if when you use a 1 pip spell that's in your school it turns the power pip into a normal pip but only if you just have power pips and no pips. 47 90
It won't happen, the pip system works fine the way it is. KI has already said it's not going to give change for pips. A power pip counts as the 1 pip per round that you get with the ADDED bonus of being able to use it as 2 for your school. You are not losing anything by using the ONE pip per round that everyone gets. You are merely choosing not to use that pip's special bonus power.
Would that also apply to 3, 5, 7 and so on pip spells? What about in the future, when we get 14 pip spells and probably have very high or even 100% Power Pip chance? Unless we have another 1 pip spell, which we might not have when we need it or at all, we wouldn't be able to cast our strongest spell. That could mean not being able to defeat a boss, let's say a dungeon's final boss. Take Death, for example. Feint is really important for defeating bosses. What if you use a Feint with Potent Trap and would be able to kill now? No, you can't, you don't have enough pips and can't get more because you had bad luck and your one pip spells are hiding. Well, too bad you needed to hit now, before the boss defeats you. Try again. I know that's very speculative, but that can happen in the future. Besides, the current pip system is fine the way it is. There's no need for a change.
the pip system doesnt do regular math, that's why. Many have asked about this, and it just boils down to how the system works is all. it's not broken, it just can't handle it
Here's another way to look at pips/power pips. Let's say it's a restaurant. Everyone who walks in get a coupon for a drink. Sometimes you get a coupon for a drink and cookie. If you don't want the cookie, they aren't gonna give you 2 drinks instead or give you another coupon for drink another day. There's really nothing that complicated about it. You aren't losing anything.

That brings up an interesting point regarding the pip cost of more powerful spells.
I think before we get a regular pip back for using a power pip on a one pip spell, I'd rather start seeing regular pips used first. Like when I get 4 regular pips and I cast a 4 pip spell, burn up those regular pips first instead of the power pips.
Power pips are becoming way too important to give them first priority for usage.
the GOOD thing about pip management, is that if you have power and regular pips, it WILL use the proper amount of pips. Yes, PP are becoming a MUST these days, but it's good to know they do work well and *mostly* the way they should. I hate to say it, but past a certain point, we should really never be getting white pips more than a few times a battle. Yes, gear does boost it, no arguments there, but nobody should get 7 white pips in a row at L100; and that's happened to me a few times.

That will and should never happen. The way it works is correct. It uses power pips when it's able. This saves turns. You need to use 1 pip or off school spells for pip burning.
I think from now on KI will have our 108, 128, etc. spells be shadow infused so we will be able to cast them and not have to worry about getting full power pips.
