Upgrading spells

I wish you could permanently upgrade the base damage in spells you own. For an example: you can take a spell and permanently increase its base damage by a 100. Maybe they could make it to where you would have to craft it and the reagents required to craft it is difficult to get so that way you can't just go and upgrade everything. I think this would be very helpful for a lot of schools. What do you guys think?

Yea, that would actually be cool. This would limit the need to constantly need to get new spells. Upgrading could increases damage and also add new additions to the spell, so like an evil snowman would also add a tower shield, cyclops summons a minion, etc.

This could even work with blades/traps. You could upgrade them to get up to maybe a 10-15% increase.
