Game Maturity

As you play the game, you notice something. Especially if you're an older player when you first started out. How everything was cartoonish, kid-like and silly. For example some of the first level spell attacks you get, and talking to Oriel in the garden, the way she sounded. Yet after some recent update, if you made new character after maxing them, you noticed her voice actor change. It was more calm, more adult like instead of high pitched and frantic.

What I'm trying to say is, you notice the game mature as you go on. From kid-like to teen/young adult, you know the subtle change through each world you go through. Like if you were to compare the simplistic silliness of Wizard City to say Azteca or Khrysalis, you notice the seriousness in dialogue of NPC and even monsters you fight. I think it's a great aspect in the game, the longer the game goes on, the older and maturer it grows.

With that being said, maybe their should be another major update. Similar to when you guys updated the voice actors on characters and also the animation of the Storm Lord. Maybe you can update some cartoonish spells and give it some seriousness or at least more... I want to say something other than cool looking but I can't find the word. For example if you were to update the Fire Cat spell, maybe you could have realistic looking flames burning off it's fur as it slowly walked it's way out of a charred looking cave?

Or even the balance scarab being updated to a bunch of miniature sand scarabs that are digging holes under the dirt before they swarm the opponent. Again though, just examples.

Now back to the maturity thing, I doubt it will change. But maybe you can tweak the dialogue of some monsters you face to be a bit more serious? Such as the Harvest Lord, he sounds like a little kid about to steal a bunch of candy. Not only the way he talks but what he says. Again, without going overboard since people have had problems with Azteca boss dialogue, maybe you can tweak it to make him see more like a serious boss. Something to thing about I suppose.

Yes, I noticed the changes as well. Especially in Lady Oriel and the Wizard City Guards. What you're requesting though, sounds a little bit of a gamble-update. It may give more problems to KI than help . . .

I may be going off topic a bit, but I have also noticed besides the changing in voice acting in unicorn way, that there are actually quite a few things KingsIsle has changed in the first arc:

In grizzleheim, location change of one of the teleport stones in ravenscar
In wintertusk, the addition of teleport stones (or have I not noticed??)

In dragonsypre, some quests such as the ones in the crucible which I specifically remember to be you need to collect say 6, now you only need to get 3. Probably more reduced defeat and collect
You no longer need to get the chest in the labyrinth (right?)
Some npc were relocated a little bit

I actually like these changes, makes questing on my lower wizards more fun, considering I like to quest on my life wizard who is in Avalon. I'd like for them not to make too many changes to the spells and voice actors though, for nostalgic reasons

Yea, on the Update Notes they said that they had fixed some Defeat and Collect quests. Those quests are a pain.

Changes in voice actors in MMOs are almost seldom mentioned in the update notes.
You either notice and look into it or you don't.

Voice actors have been receiving a lot more attention and fame as of late than they used to,
on Television, Movies, and in games.

There are some pretty well known voices out there that everyone could recognize in a heartbeat-
but only a select few will know the name of the actor who provided the voice.
Rather sad, but I think we're slowly but surely working out of that era and into one that appreciates vocal talent.

They have also changed the voice actor of Malistaire, too. If you create a new wizard just for the tutorial his voice sounds a lot more menacing and evil now!
