I think silver chests need improvement. Other threads show I am not the only one. These are the main complaints:
A) Shock-a-lock is very hard for some people, some give up on silver chests and quit opening them because they never succeed. Other people say they can open them every time. My experience matches both of these, I must have tried shock-a-lock 10 or 15 times before I succeeded the first time, now with practice and good technique I open them every time.
B) The rewards given by silver chests simply aren't worth the time it takes to play the game.
C) Silver Chests frequently appear to give no reward at all. As of this writing, the last five silver chests I have opened have appeared to yield nothing. I say appeared because there were no pop up treasure icons or comments in my text window saying I received a reward. I did not do a detailed study of my inventory to search for new items that might have been added without a message.
D) Wooden chests, which take almost no time to open, seem to give rewards nearly as good as the silver, and don't have the "sometimes gives nothing" problem. Many players routinely ignore silver chests but open every wooden chest they see. The suggests the relative value is a bit off.
I want to suggest KI improve the silver chests to decrease the frustration level, reduce the repetitiveness, and improve the rewards.
1) Add a couple of different minigames to the chests so you do something besides shock-a-lock all the time.
2) Make the minigame difficulty scale. Every time a player fails at the lock minigame, make the next attempt a little easier. Give them more time or something. If they constantly succeed, start making it a little harder, until they reach a steady state of maybe 70% success rate. Occasional failures would increase the tension and make the game inherently more interesting than a boring "waste x seconds doing a,b, then c, lock opens every time".
3) Improve the rewards. More gold is always welcome. The treasure cards and reagents would be more useful if they weren't so random. Maybe the chest could offer you like 3 items and let you pick one. More control over the outcome will make the player feel happier even if the reward is actually pretty minor.
4) For Pete's sake always give the player SOMETHING if they go to all the trouble of winning the minigame.
The secret to wining the silver chests is to click the cards as fast as you can, this leaves more time to reposition the "pipes" to make the connection. With a little practice try to make the path longer and longer. It's my guess the longer the "spark" is in the "pipes" the better the reward.
I agree they need a better reward I am in celestial and playing with silver chests is easy but the rewards are so not worth it. It be worth it for people in the wizard city world but totally not for celesta people. The rewards are crappy treasure cards with 80 gold it's not worth it. I win the shock a lock every time and they need to improve the prizes like they should give 300 gold, clothing, and some better treasure cards based on your level. Maybe a wand. For your level.
