Secrets of Dragonspyre Academy

I have some questions about the Dragonspyre Academy:

What types of magic were taught there? Was Balance taught there?

Why is there still a Death tree?

What is behind that gate near Ashley?

Who was the Headmaster?

Why can't we go back into the past and see what Dragonspyre Academy looked like then?
