Resistance not working

Hello. I created a jewel that gave me 36 storm resistance, meaning that I had 99 total! So I went to kraken so I could see how little the spells did, and they did a lot of damage! I thought they wouldn't do anything. The only thing I can think of is that I have 26 resistance regularly and 73 from jewels. Do jewels not count all the time? I'm curious.
Thanks! Blake DarkBreaker level 73

There are 2 types of stat boosts. Flat and %. Your +36 jewel is flat resist boost, not +36%. It removes 36 points of damage, not 36%. Look at your character page and you can see there are 2 slots for damage and resist. Top is %, bottom is flat. So your resist is 26% and then -73 damage from what's left, not 99%

If the jewels did the % amount, don't you think that would be a little OP?

Resistance from Jewels most often give you resistance by a solid +(addition) or % (percentage). The Jewel you mentioned gives +36 resist, not 36% resist meaning damage is Subtracted, not Divided.
