August 2013

Welcome to the August 2013 Update Notes Page. What are Update Notes you ask? Every time we update Wizard101, we like to let our players know what changes have been made and what new additions have been given to the game. Update Notes explain those changes and updates.

This month brings a new "Dungeon Zone" called Aquila for level 30+, New Minions for level 75+, Deck Renaming, Item Locking and so much more!

A New World Opens!

Aquila Opens!

Aquila is home to the Immortal Games, an epic challenge hosted by the magical Immortals. The Games will push a Wizard to the limits, and are an excellent test of determination, wit, and fortitude. Never before seen challenges and features await you in Aquila.

If you are level 30 or higher, speak to Cyrus Drake in the Myth School room of Ravenwood for a special assignment; "Quest for Glory".

But there’s more to Aquila than meets the eye! Aquila is a collection of new “Dungeon Zones” within Wizard City that contain challenges and rewards for levels 30+, 70+ and 90.

As always, Members will have access to these dungeons as part of their Membership benefit.
Crowns players can choose to rent a single dungeon for six hours, or purchase that single dungeon and own it forever on that account.
The new prices for each of the Dungeons are as follows:

The six hour zone rental is now priced at 645 Crowns per Dungeon. Renting these Dungeon Zones will allow most players enough time to experience the story of the dungeon at least once and get at a shot at the crowning rewards.

Mount Olympus for level 30+ Wizards has been priced at 2495 Crowns. This Dungeon is a particularly difficult challenge with equally amazing rewards, including Zeus' armor set which includes bonuses to healing and reduced damage for each school. Mount Olympus also contains a quest for a secret boss for level 90 Wizards to challenge.

Atlantea for level 70+ Wizards has been priced at 3245 Crowns. This dungeon won’t be a walk in the park but the Poseidon’s gear you have a chance at obtaining will be worth the fight. If you liked your Waterworks gear, you’re going to love Poseidon’s gear. Like Mount Olympus, Atlantea also contains a bonus quest for a boss encounter for level 90 Wizards.

Tartarus for level 90 Wizards has been priced at 3995 Crowns. This is the ultimate challenge, with equally ultimate rewards including the Hades’ set which is for only the strongest Wizards to discover. You will have to work very hard for this amazing gear that is some of the best you will see in the Spiral. On top of that, there are also rare Exalted Amulets in this dungeon that will make you put your Mastery Amulets in the Shared Bank!

Notes: There's no increase in the level cap with the addition of this Dungeon Zone.

New Minions at level 75

New Minions!

New Minion Spell Quests!

Help has arrived in the form of spells to summon new powerful minions! If you are level 75 or higher and have your level 55 spell, speak to Halston Balestrom in Ravenwood's Storm School.

Yes once again, we're doing things a little differently - rather than returning to your respective Professors for a spell, Halston Balestrom will be the one sending you on this adventure. Please note these minions cannot be used in PvP.

There are 3 requirements to meet to be able to accept the starting spell quest from your Professor
  1. Being a minimum of level 75
  2. Having completed Crab Alley in Triton Avenue*.
  3. Having completed the quest “The Runedown” which gave you your level 55 spell.
The spell you need to have as a requirement for this quest is:
    1. Availing Hands for Balance Wizards
    2. Virulent Plague for Death Wizards
    3. Power Link for Fire Wizards
    4. Frozen Armor for Ice Wizards
    5. Brilliant Light for Life Wizards
    6. Talos for Myth Wizards
    7. Insane Bolt for Storm Wizards
*Crab Alley in Triton Avenue is required as you will be visiting King Heinrich Thermidor VIII for part of this quest.

Lock your Items

Lock your Items

We've all got special items we'd rather not accidentally sell - and now you can lock items in your backpack. You must enable Item Lock in the Gameplay Options Menu (press Escape to bring up the Options)

Then just select the item you want to lock, and click the 'Lock' button - but be careful, it's near the 'Equip', 'Feed to Pet' and 'Trash' Buttons!

Items you have chosen to lock will have a Locked icon in your backpack.

Locked items CAN:
  1. be put in houses
  2. be put in the attic *
  3. be put in the bank
  4. be put in the shared bank
  5. be put on mannequins

Locked items CAN:
  1. be dyed
  2. be stitched
  3. be unstitched
  4. be used in a crafting recipe

Locked items CANNOT:
  1. be sold to a vendor
  2. be quick sold from the backpack
  3. be sold to the Bazaar
  4. be trashed
  5. be fed to a pet
* Please note, items will not remain locked when in the Attic

Deck Renaming

Rename your Deck!

Players now have the option to choose a new temporary name for a deck they have in their inventory!

Look for the new button on your Spell Deck Tab that will let you rename your deck! (Press P on your keyboard when you're not in a duel to bring up your Spell Deck)

Click the button and you can choose from a selection of options to rename your deck. This will allow you to better organize different decks for different bosses or encounters, as well as PvP. The Deck name you choose will display in your backpack, however the original name of the Deck will display when you inspect the deck by placing your mouse cursor over its name.

In accordance with our ongoing safety protocols, players will not be able to enter their own name for decks but can choose from the menu to create a new deck name.
