Almost Time to “Launch” into Summer!

Welcome to May in Wizard101! We’re all getting very excited to “launch” into the summer season and a busier time in Wizard101. We’ve been hard at work behind the scenes on new things that will be catapulting your way soon.

As was discussed in our recent KI Live, May will also include another “Palooza” celebration, the return of the five BOXES event, and more!

As for April, we had an amazing time with April Fool’s Day, Eggbert spent some time with us, and we held a lot of special sales and promotions like Mount-a-Palooza. We hope you were able to get your “Coolest Mount Ever,” get some great items at great discounts, and fish up a few of the Easter “Eggshellfishies” while they were still swimming the lakes and ponds of The Spiral.

April was also special because Gilda Burke and the Monstrology system arrived in the Spiral. Be sure to drop by our new Monstrology section of the Official Message Boards to see what’s new with your fellow Monstrologists and share your tips. Along with the new Monstrology update came a few new items in the Crown Shop as well, like the new Professor’s Hoard Pack. Now you finally have the chance to dress like your favorite Ravenwood Professor, have an owl protégé of your own, and ride the spiral on your school symbol mount!

Developer Spotlight: Joel White

Name: Joel White / Decius

Favorite thing about Wizard101: The wonderful pets and spells

Favorite thing about working at KingsIsle: We don’t crunch like most game companies

What is your favorite book to read? Neromancer

What did you want to be when you were small? A game designer

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be? Tacos

How many pairs of shoes do you own? 2 running, 3 cycling, 3 pairs of sandals, 2 pairs of dress shoes.

What's your favorite zoo animal? Zebras!

What's your favorite holiday? March! ( 5 family birthdays in march, so it’s a month long party.)

What's the most daring thing you've ever done? This is a hard one. I scuba dive and I partake in triathlon and ironman races. I think that the full Ironman race just did in the Woodlands was the biggest challenge, but when it comes to daring, maybe scuba diving, there are just so many things that can go wrong there you have to really be focused.

What was your favorite subject in school? Geography.

Is there anything you wished would come back into fashion? Pogs :P

What do you do to keep fit? Triathlons and Marathons.

What three things do you think of the most each day? Work, workouts and food.

What was your first job? Candy store employee.

What is your favorite family holiday tradition? Opening presents on Christmas eve.

Screenshot of the Month!

We again had a great collection of screenshots this month! Thank you so much for sending us your captured moments. One thing we’d like to remind our diligent screenshot takers of: Control + G. Make sure to clear your screen elements before you snap that perfect picture.

This month’s winner of Screenshot of the Month comes from Caroline DeathHeart, who captured her wizard in a perfect moment as she case the life symbol, which also happens to perfectly represent the season at hand, spring! You can also tell Caroline put a lot of thought into her outfit, showing off her rare Amaranthine Staff (originally from a Beckett Magazine code, then given out by Paige Moonshade as a fan site, and now featured as a rare fishing reward in Zafaria) and her Emberstone Tiger (an interesting choice from the Keeper’s Lore Pack.)

As a reminder, please only send us your best three screenshots every month to community@wizard101.com if you’d like to participate. For more tips, check out this blog post with helpful screen shot hints. Don’t forget to press Control+G before you snap your picture!

Fan Art Spotlight

We had a lot of great fan art submitted to us this month! Thank you so much for continuing to honor us with your creations, and we will be sure to upload a big batch to both Pinterest and Facebook this month. Please continue to send us your creations to community@wizard101.com. We LOVE our creative community.

Our fan art spotlight this month has descended upon an amazing artist that has been sending us his creations for a very long time (for not only Wizard101, but for Pirate101 too!). Avery (AKA Dark Rapier) sent us a couple of great pieces this month that we had to share with everyone. It’s easy to see his amazing talent and dedication.
