MARCH INTO SPRING

null

February was all about meeting new friends across the Spiral, including introducing the Gamigo community to Wizard101. Now we’re marching into spring and are celebrating those newfound friendships in the warm air of Wizard City. Still not warm enough for you? Take a jaunt down the sidewalks along Firecat Alley to keep warm in the Fireglobe Theatre... just be careful about running into the fire elves maddened leader!

Thanks to community leaders from fansites to experienced Wizards of all schools, we’ve seen many new Wizards being helped by our community to get started in the Spiral. Thanks for taking care of them! Be sure to show them around all of the fun content, including side activities like fishing, housing, and all the other ones you love to experience.

Expect many more new players to make an appearance in the months ahead!

Before diving into the newsletter, a quick review of what’s happened recently in the news:
  • FEB 5: More Friendship Festival items
  • FEB 9: New Auspicious Ox pet
  • FEB 14: Happy Valentine’s Day!
  • FEB 22: Ice chosen as this month’s Deckathalon
  • FEB 25: KI Live – Friends of the Spiral
  • MAR 1: Spring Scroll of Fortune returns

Keep updated on the latest news for next month on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, including special announcements from community fansites! Read on for more fun happenings with the community and their Spiral activities.

SPRING SPELL UPDATE SNEAK PEEK

You’ve all been wanting this for a long time and now we’re set to deliver! Clipped from February's KI Live, Mattnetic presents the first teaser of what we're looking to release to Wizard101 this Spring! All of the content of this sneak peek displayed in the video is in development and subject to change.

KI LIVE: FRIENDS OF THE SPIRAL

Activity is heating up across the Spiral in anticipation of the rest of this year's potential! It's a friendly festive time, so we thought it would be great to release on this month's KI Live the first sneak peek of what's coming to the Spring Update. If you didn’t watch the clip from above, enjoy the show with it included.

Guests on the show included Blind Mew to answer community questions around the story and worlds, Mattnetic who showed off the teaser video, and of course Ratbeard (is he really a 'guest' anymore? Let us know if you want him on the show even more!).

If you missed the livestream, watch it now on YouTube:

Secret Reader Bonus - As of this newsletter's announcement, for those who didn't get a chance to redeem the KI Live giveaway code yet, we opened it up again (FEBRUARYFRIENDS2021) for another 500 redemptions!

For more videos and livestreams, be sure to subscribe to KingsIsle's YouTube channel.

A great gameplay tip submitted to KI Live comes from JLegendWielder:

"When it's harvesting/replanting time, carry an empty seed vault in your backpack. As you are harvesting, fill up your seed vault, not your backpack! Don't forget to pick it back up when you're done replanting..." - JLegendWielder

NEW DEV DIARIES WEBSITE SECTION

We expanded the Producer’s Letter website section to include all of the great hits from Ratbeard and other developers. Now you can get the in-depth scoop on design in a single Developer Diaries location!

NEW CONCEPT ART FROM ADAM ROUSH

Adam has been busy creating even more cool new art! From landscapes to characters, and even some creepy (or perhaps ‘evilly’?) depictions of Nana herself, he draws it all. Check out his latest:

null

“Here's some of the in-game posters I did for Karamelle. These were a lot of fun, especially "motivational" posters. My favorite is the sad cake.” - Adam Roush

null

“Here's an early Gumdrop Forest concept from Karamelle. It's just a quick paintover, but I enjoyed working on it, especially that golden hour lighting.” - Adam Roush

null

“Here's a few Karamelle house odds and ends. Rough ideas for the environment, luge, rock tunnels, and town layout. Fun stuff.” - Adam Roush

null

“Here's the Fire Spell Catapult from Karamelle. I really enjoyed making this - understanding how it works then getting into the fine details of this machine. Props are fun :).” - Adam Roush

HOUSING ROUNDTABLE LIVESTREAM CHAT

null

The next roundtable chat with a community group and our team is coming up this March 11th at 4pm CT on Daniel Sunsword’s Twitch channel!

We will be discussing, you guessed it... housing topics! On the show from our team will be Professor Falmea, Decius, Arthur Wethersfield, and Sparck.

Hosts Daniel, Ducky, and Emily let us know that they will also be taking some questions from Twitch chat. We look forward to answering them!

COMMUNITY VIDEO SPOTLIGHT

Faeriequeens toured Valkoor Drakerider’s house! Viewers get a look at Valkoor’s island getaway castle that uses castle magic in very cool ways. There’s even a treasure hunt game included for visitors! We tried it out but the treasure eluded us.

Will you discover the answer to the puzzle?

COMMUNITY GUIDE OF THE MONTH

For this month’s guide spotlight, James Nightwraith from Final Bastion shows you how to best farm peacefully with your fellow adventurers in his new Farming Etiquette 101 guide!

null

In the guide, James goes over five important points:
  • Wait for everyone to be ready
  • Skeleton keys
  • Know your cheats
  • Be patient!
  • Don’t leave the dungeon

“Now with the addition of team up and the team up kiosk, farming has never been easier. You can see which dungeons people are in and choose one at your leisure. However, I’ve noticed a growing problem with team-up, a lack of proper farming etiquette. Here are some things to keep in mind when you’re on your next farming expedition.” - Final Bastion

For highlights of the hundreds of other community guides available across a range of topics, be sure to visit the official Community Guides page on the main website.

Thanks, Wizards!
