Summer in Full “Swing”

July is a time when things really start heating up and Summer is in full swing. Speaking of “swing,” there’s a little something new swinging in to Wizard101 this month!

July 2017 will feature a ton of fun sales, promotions, and more! All the things you’ve been testing in June will be coming to the Live Realm in July as well! We can’t wait to bring you PvP Daily rewards, chat channels, main quest designation, and more!

Developer Spotlight: TJ Oleary

Favorite thing about Wizard101? I can’t name just one favorite thing :(, but I love the game’s sense of humor and homage to pop culture. There’s so much depth in the storytelling, and the gameplay is top notch. I really love the sense of atmosphere and immersive quality of the adventuring experience, too.

Favorite thing about working at KingsIsle? Working with a team that cherishes the experience of a finished game and visualizing smiles on our players’ faces when they get to explore the worlds we lay out for them. It’s a wonderful kind of joy to dance with the challenges of technology to make interactive art.

What's the most daring thing you've ever done? I hiked from South Lake Tahoe California to Ashland Oregon along the Pacific Crest Trail back in 1997.

What is your favorite childhood memory? My favorite childhood memory was pushing the “Loudness” button on my dad’s big ol’ 70’s stereo hi-fi system and having ZZ Top explode out of the speakers.

Is there anything you wished would come back into fashion? Baggy pants ;)

Screenshot of the Month!

We received a lot of great screenshots this month, and we’d like to remind everyone again to press Control+G to hide your screen elements before taking a screenshot. It’s the number one thing that will make your screenshot go from “not” to “hot”!

Speaking of hot, our Screenshot of the Month comes from one of our well known fans, who is known around the community as FrostCaller! If you haven’t been to FrostCaller’s Blog, it really is a thing of beauty! Unfortunately for FrostCaller, things are about to get really hot as a Meteor Strike is incoming . . . but at least it’s at -50% damage

The colors in Khrysalis set a great mood for this picture, but what really makes this screenshot sing is the perfectly timed shot of the Meteor Strike breaching from the sky.

Fan Art Spotlight

Calling all artists! Please continue to send us your fan art creations for Wizard101. If you see a friend post a picture on Twitter, Tumblr, or any of the other social media spots you hang out, please encourage them to send their work to community@wizard101.com as well! We love seeing your fan art.

The following piece of Fan Art is one that will send chills down your spine. Inspired by the infamous Death Wizard spell, Deer Knight, the artist known as “Baba Yaga” or “Garbad” posted this great shot on Wizard101 Central and then at our encouraging also forwarded it to our email to be considered for the fan art spotlight.

It’s pretty epic . . . and scary. It isn’t October yet. is it? *shiver* When we contacted Garbad, he also had this to say about his artwork, "I always thought the Deer Knight was one of the most impressive looking spells in Wizard101 and also the idea behind it is really cool in my opinion. I saw the potential for a more 'realistic' style artwork so here we are!"
