Boss did not lose pips w/ dispell

I lose my pips w/ a dispell, why not the boss?

You, nor the bosses, will lose pips if the dispell prevents a 0 pip spell from casting (you only lose the pips according to the cost of the card). Sounds like the boss casted a 0 pip spell.
