In Haunted Cave there is a big gate with mist seeping out from under it. Whats behind there?

For want of a better term, it would be the Elder Seer's Cave.

The cave is used towards the end of the Death level 38 spell Empower. I don't believe that it opens, but The Elder Seer (who looks like a Wraith) appears in front of it, talks to the wizard, and awards a scroll. The wizard then returns to Dworgyn with the scroll and gets the Empower spell.
