These training points can be used to learn spells from outside your school of focus. In order to learn higher level spells of a school, you have to first learn the lower level spells.
If you make a mistake, you can sell back your Spells for Training Points with Mr Lincoln in Golem Court after level 12. This transaction costs Crowns.

Hi gamma um you are right but mr. lincoin does not sell training points back anymore will this be forever?beacause i just bought crowns a week ago to buy them back so i could train in the balance school.

If he's not offering to buy back your Training Points, this could be a bug - please submit it through the Help & Support tab on the left.
