X pips pip selection

For X pip spells that certain wizards learn. Why can't we choose the amount of power we want to put into that spell? Instead of being restricted to a one shot spell in which we wait a number of turns to cast. Why not allow us to choose the amount of power that goes into the spell?

When you select an X minion/attack, on the screen a bar of pips shows you how many you have and from there you select the amount of pips you want to give into that spell.

I just consider it the 'art' of play, knowing exactly when to use an X spell and when not to. It becomes easy with practice so you end up not even really thinking too much about it after a bit of play with X spells.

You do have the option to choose how many to use.... you cast it when you've built up what you need. That's the whole point of the spell. If it's an attack spell, having a whole rack of pips means it's gonna do a lot of damage, so there is a trade off that it uses up all then you have to wait to build more.

If it's for a minion such as death, the more you wait for, the better the minion, so of course there should be a trade off that you have to then start accumulating from scratch again. Afterall, your opponent then has to deal with 2 enemies, not 1.
