I have a concern with typing numbers, when I try to chat with numbers example (wait 2 minutes I am in a battle) but it turns out into ... but I know open chat can use numbers but why cant text chat?
Now, to put this question into more perspective, I'll briefly give you a History Lesson.
Back when you first joined (2014), the game was beginning to really overhaul it's Chat System. Prior to this date (2010 - 2011), numbers, caps etc. could freely be expressed by anyone, not just open chatters. The only exception were of course Menu Chatters.
Now, with this freedom, came the very unfortunate trolls that began exploiting the system.
Hence, the game had to restrict the chat and filter it so that trolls don't exploit the system for harm such as soliciting/giving personal info from/to others and spamming.
This is why Text Chat is the way it is today; highly filtered.
