In theory if all of the merchants of Grizzleheim and Wizard City banded together, then why not all of them? And why wouldn't there be trade caravans that went between the worlds creating "shipping lanes".
My suggestion would be for travelling merchants throughout the spiral, similar to the cat guys from Skyrim who wander around the entire world. They could all be working for an NPC boss/guild, like SpiralMart or Mr. Such and Such's Travelling Caravan.
Where would you find these merchants? Safe areas of worlds - but not high traffic areas
What would they look like? Travelling merchants usually would be somewhere between a shadowy Jawa and a flashy pirate, with a wagon pulled by some sort of mount. Maybe even current mounts like camels and yaks?
Biggest question - what would they sell? Well, having the items available in other world available everywhere would make having to go to Zafaria for Zebra shields or Marleybone for Chess pieces obsolete, so current merchants would still be the only places that sell their specific items.
Likewise, having the bazaar items available everywhere means no one would ever have to go to the bazaar again. While that might not be a bad thing, it's hard to believe that our beloved Bazaar wouldn't be able to grow his business after having 50 million customers.
Here's my thought 1. Surplus Bazaar Items - There's always pages and pages of items that are 100+ in the bazaar like crumpled newspapers and crates of hot dogs. Move anything that has more than 25 in stock to the storefront of the travelling merchants. This streamlines the bazaar so that items there are rarer and there are less to navigate through.
2. No auction items - Your items that can't be sold can be traded for a traveller only currency that would allow you to buy special items from them.
3. Crown only items - Those excess crowns items that you don't want or need could also be exchanged here. This would allow others to get some crowns items and churn gold out of players pockets. KI could control which items they would allow to be sold. I'd think there wouldn't be an issue with having extra King Parsley or leaning palm trees if it meant that it keeps the economy going. Might even encourage more crown purchases if it's things that have re-sell value.
4. No sell TC - I have many of these and the only way to get rid of them is to use them or find an item to craft from them
5. New items - Those that KI wants to put in the game that don't fit a specific world, buyable only with the new currency. Like things from world mentioned that we won't ever get to visit.
6. Possibly items specific to their origin - A Marleybonian merchant would possibly have items specific to Marleybone, while a Mander might be more stocked with Krortopia gear.
Just some thoughts, but it's an idea that let's the economy grow, keeps the bazaar a little less crowded, and let's KI gives us more fun NPC to interact with.
