How about a grandmaster crafting quest (something difficult or tedious) to get a recipe that would allow crafting a socket and gem into an item or a collar for a pet (non transferable) that will increase pips, accuracy or resistance etc by one or two points?
Pet equipment or socketed item with jewel insert. I know the jewel insert type of thing is done in other games, but pet equipment might be unique enough for this one.
