There's a very big annoying problem with the card drawing system. That's the Item cards! Wand hits, Pet cards and so many more, fill your deck and you almost never use them! It's really annoying when you are doing quick runs and in desperate need of a card.
Right now, you cannot disable your item cards but I suggest something even better. A Side Hand!
We will have 3 more card slots that are only filled by your item cards. I mean they are cards that you are granted for wielding and item, why not use them whenever YOU want to?
Current hand:
New Hand:
This way the cards the items will give you will be of help like they should!
I don't really see the need for it. If you don't want item cards equip different items. Most wizards don't have 3 item cards anyways. If my wizards have any, it's because I want it in my deck. I wouldn't mind the idea of being able to disable them, but I don't like the idea of the separate hand.
Well Actually I'm glad you agree about being able to disable cards of the side deck. That's my main goal, Just thought of a unique way to do it. Also, most wands give you 6 cards already, without other items you might wield.
Adding another hand seems a bit much. I'd like to be able to cancel individual cards, like the shadow traps and baldes from Mali robe and wand. That could be a simple 'click on / click off'. We don't need anything fancy.
I also don't like that we cannot remove unwanted spells from the deck. But my idea is to turn them from somthing that gets in your way to somthing that can actually help!
I disagree. I don't think we need any further streamlining of the spell deck and I think the ability to disable item cards is far too flexible. If you wear a particular item because you want one of it's boosts then you should have to live with any other effects it gives. If it's an item card you don't need then discard it. It's only going to happen once, if at all. I'm not in favor of being able to disable item cards in any way. As with all gear and pets there are usually positives and negatives and we have to choose accordingly. I don't think an item card should be treated any differently than any other boost.

I like the idea of an "off" setting. There's no disadvantage.
If you are using Malistaire gear, which most players consider the best in the game, you are always stuck with 4 useless cards. I don't want to carry another set of gear, and i don't want to waste a round discarding junk that I would never deliberately put in my deck. The best amulets also gives cards. Sometimes I want them, but wouldn't it be easier just to switch them on and off, then to have to carry a no card amulet and give up stats to get rid of them when I want a quick draw? Likewise, why make two different pets with the same talents just to have a card / no card option?
Why get hung up on how the game has been? Why not make it better? This isn't a big change, or one with any negative effects. You aren't stuck with every spell you have ever trained in your deck, so why be stuck with item cards?

It's not about "the way it has always been." It's about real-world-like balancing of positives and negatives. To get Malistaire stats, you have to suffer useless cards. To avoid useless cards, you get subpar gear. It's strategy - otherwise that perfect gear *is* OP.
I'm never in favor of dumbing-down. That's what this is to me. Taking away strategic decisions and saying "Here. Have it all. At no cost."

Well I really don't see why anyone objects to this feature other than tradition. I doubt the designers added cards to the Malistaire gear to handicap us or make that gear less desirable.
It isn't dumbing down. It's more flexibility. Why saddle players with cards they don't want? It doesn't make gear any more or less OP, it just saves wasted rounds. I can change my amulet and pet every time I go from a boss to a mob fight, but how is that better or more 'strategic' than simply switching that card on or off? My teammates would probably appreciate the time savings. I know I would.
I'm really surprised at the opposition to this improvement. "oh no, you are supposed to suffer with junk cards you don't want" Why? Don't we have enough things in our backpack as it is? EVERYONE would benefit from having a simple choice.
It's easier on players and on KI to give item cards an "on" and "off" option than to have multiple versions of things to have card and no-card options, and players have been asking for low-card or no-card wands for years. This would solve that issue.

In my opinion it's more an issue of "easier is not necessarily better". Not because that's the way it's always been but does doing this lessen the satisfaction of playing the game? Just like everyone else, I hate having to repeat instances because I got the wrong card draw, but I also want to feel like I've accomplished something when I'm successful. Steps like this open the door to more possible customization. Where does it end? I disagree that this is not a big change. It would be a huge change if you had six pieces of gear, all with item cards. Being able to remove some, or all of those potential cards from your deck and still retain the other boosts from that gear is a level of customization that goes above and beyond. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's a bad idea. I just feel that it's not necessary.
At this point, not being able to take out item cards from your deck is only annoying, not challenging. I mean, when I speed farm there's no way I'll lose the battle, it will just take longer.
