Shadow magic was around for 2 years and I haven't seen the blade, trap and shield spells except on gear. Am I missed where they are? If they're not released yet, why are those spells not in the game?

Probably because there is no use or need for them in the game at present. Shadow doesn't have any major controlled attacks. With the exception of maybe 1-2 battles that have shadow cheat attacks, I can't think of any game situation where I'd even consider packing a shadow shield, for example. And even then, a Tower works against Shadow too.
