You need internet to play wizard101, and where there is internet that you can access, its a WHOLE lot easier to use your parents laptop or yours (if you have one).
This is an internet linked game, if you intend to take it on a car/plane ride, you would be unable to acquire an internet connection. Pretty sure that handhelds have limited online capabilities, if any, so we'd be looking at a handheld ONE-PLAYER version of wizard101. It just wouldn't work, to say the least....
