It might mean that because the parent is older, it has more talents, and thus the offspring will have a greater chance of manifesting one of those talents. If it means that the older the pet you're training, the greater the chance of it manifesting its parents' talents, it's false. A pet's talents are determined upon hatching.
All talents and their order of manifest are chosen at the time of hatching. No snack or training specific stats will change that.
Pedigree is just a total level number of the possible talents in a pet's genes. Talents and Derby, 0-4 = 1-5 points of pedigree. This includes all 20 possible slots, not just the 10 it manifested.
Thanks Lewski, I guess that sort of makes sense, as to "fill in the gap" If my parent pets have run out of talents to pass on, but I'm just confused because I've tried to hatch 2 different pets, each with the EXACT talents I'm trying to bring together onto one pet. Each hatch produced new unwanted talents. Here's an example:
-Pet#1 Has: Spell Proof, Fairy Friend, and Life-Giver (Adult).
Pet #2 has: Spell-Defy, Life-Boon, and Pain-Giver (Adult)
Since there can only be 5 talents, I'm fine with either Life-Boon or Pain-Giver. There you have my pet:
No. Age and training don't have any effect. Nor does pedigree. Talents come from parents, and some parents are better at passing certain talents, but it's chance which you'll get. Nothing you do will change it.

The following three attempts have gotten me nowhere. These are the talents the offspring manifested at Baby:
Attempt #1: Extra Gritty Attempt #2: Extra accuracy Attempt #3: Extra Dodgy
Why is nothing falling into place like it should be?
I'm wasting a ton of time, and getting nowhere with the desired results. Why is this?
Thank you to whoever explains this nonsense!
The same talent can't exist twice in a pet's talent pool. For example, if both parents have Fairy Friend, Spell-Defying, Spell-Proof, Life-Giver and Pain-Giver, the offspring will have those in its talent pool, along with five other talents as duplicates cannot exist in the talent pool.

Each parent has the "genes" for 10 talents and manifests 5. Hatched pets will get 10 of the 20 possible genes as a mixture from both. In your example your pets have 3/10 talents showing. That's only 6/20 of the possible 10 talents they can get. You have a 5% chance that your pet will get the possibility for any one of the parents talents, unless both parents share a talent.

Other people have said it pretty well, but you can get any of the 10 talent genes from either parent, manifested or not, and any 5 of the 10 may manifest on the baby. It's not guaranteed to be only the ones you see, and usually isn't.
