Energy-A bar that starts at 100, but soon gains to 400. Energy is restored by letting you pet sleep.
Hunger-Obvious, feed your pet. The bar starts at 125 and raises to 250.
If you dont meet these needs of hunger and energy bar at least 1/4+ on each bar, than your pet goes, what you call, 'rogue'. It attacks you in battle and randomly unequips itself.
