Lately I've been thinking about some ideas I have to improve the game... even though there is a small chance that any of them will be added to the game.
One of them happens to involve crown items. As someone who has played this game for a few years, I've spent a fair amount of money on crowns. But just recently I've noticed how overpriced the items in the crown shop actually are. The new 4th of July mount costs just 500 crowns short of $10 worth... $10 for something that I can ride around on. That is just one example of overpriced items. The gear (which in my opinion isnt even good) costs up to $25 worth in crowns and would last a person just 10, maybe 15 levels. So I guess what I'm saying on that topic is I think the price for crowns should go down, or the price of items in the crown shop should go down. If KI is still set in their ways as far as prices go, then they could at least give us a chance at some of the luxurious crown items we want. There could be events that host bosses that drop nothing but crown items. The more expensive the item, the rarer it is to get as a drop.
Crowns are a completely optional part of the game and KI already allows us get over 40,000 crowns per year for free just for playing trivia for 15 minutes a day. You can also earn free packs that give crown gear in Grub Guardian and have 25 chances a day at those.

"The new 4th of July mount costs...$10 for something that I can ride around on."
yes, but if you amortize the cost of the mount versus the number of times you will use it, it is well worth it. i have so many mounts that i've lost track, but i like them and use them often (i have a full account of 6 wizards), so they are money well spent.
also, crowns items are already available as drops. i won a storm mastery from waterworks once, which is about $20 in real money, but the chance of getting a big-ticket item like that is less than 1% (they have to be rare, because it costs ki money~ who will buy the items if they are easy to get as drops?).
i agree that crowns are expensive. but keep in mind that items in the crown shop are cosmetic only and, other than mounts, do not provide any considerable leverage to the average player (who does not pvp). that's why i only buy them as i need them for questing.
Fourth of July isn't as bad as the digimore hoppers at the box event. They cost $60 in crowns plus then other items such as using energy to catch fish. If one doesn't buy the mounts then one can't get the music boxes. A bit unfair. What if someone only wants a music box/player and not the mount. Just saying.......

i have no idea what you're talking about.
1) the digmoore/ravenwood pogo sticks ("hoppers") are crafted mounts and do not cost crowns; 2) the recipes for them don't cost crowns either; they are purchased with gold; 3) they are also not a prerequisite for crafting the music players.*
*i crafted both, and i had the music player long before i ever obtained the reagents for the mount
(it is, however, possible that the recipe for the music player you want to craft is restricted to a particular rank~ this means that you are required to reach a certain stage of crafting before you can purchase the recipe. for example, the dragon's roost player that i crafted required a rank of master artisan; if you don't have that crafting badge, you can't purchase the recipe.)
