Actually i think the gobblers are from candy land. If you remember at the end the gobbler said our old home has been taken over by witches and if you read about candy land sounds alike.

Wow. I never thought about this before but I think you're right! Coming from a land full of candy would explain why Gobblers love to eat so much.
