I've seen many players use a hi level spell when they have a weakness on them (either a 25% or a 90%) instead of using a wand spell to get rid of it first, maybe have The Duel Master teach this strategy in his education tips, that is to use a wand spell to get rid of a weakness spell before casting a high level damage spell.
This is part of my strategy also. I never carry a wand from my school so that I can kill a shield and not touch anything I've put up. In some of the boss battles if you don't do damage to him every round, he casts something very lethal. That's where your wand spells work great. And for zero pips!! Also a good thing to remember. Don't chose a wand from the opposite school. Fire wizards - balance or myth or life work great. You get the idea. Try it out and have fun.
