While Wizard101 is a fun and interesting game, after some time it gets stale and overused - same routine, different rotation.

What I propose, albeit this may take time and much difficulty to pull off, is to implement a skill tree system similar to Pirate101.
Doing so would create more diversity amongst classes allowing the extremely versatile Death to switch over to an extremely amazing support tank, if played well - skills and passives to directly effect spells to create deviants such as AoE drains->single heal into AoE drain->divided heal etc etc..
This is just the tip of the iceberg, if not this then another possibility could just simply enforcing the current skills to increase diversity - an example would be the ability to upgrade, alter, or even discover new spells through the means of Crafting, Gardening, Fishing, and Monstrology. An example of such would be discovering a 5-pip Deer Knight dealing 300+270 as an AoE DoT - add some fossil, lets say 200, and 100 Penumbra Dragon Animus to create a 6-pip Deer King to deal a flat 600 AoE Damage and apply a regular Plague, then take it another step further to require 500 Blood Moss and Black pearl with an additional 300 Shadowbones Animus to create a 5-pip Shadow-Enhanced spell named Shadow King which would deal a single target 1,100 Drain and Beguile the target.

These are just examples of possibilities of course but the message stands clear, there is plenty of opportunity with the content available to expand the current game further beyond to what it currently is in order to keep a steady and interesting game for both PvM and PvP which will no doubt create quite the stir and shake the very Meta's that stand until KingsIsle deems it appropriate to put a stop to it through QoL or by simply adding new content forcing it to adept slightly, whereas this the Meta lifespan would heavily land in the control of the players and how they build there wizards, whether they are set to support, tank, heal, or DpS and have there spells adjusted as such.

Again, just some ideas to improve combat as a whole as it stands with some purely (slightly reasonable) examples shown - I do not expect it to be adapted as whole-heartedly, merely just to be considered in the ongoing effort to improve the quality of this game.

Hmmm, that's an interesting idea. It might be very abuseable, though. Something like this might completely break PvP, the idea of Death heals being spread to all would be very overpowered in group PvP matches. Say there was something like "increases universal resist by x%." Something like that could make the already tanky and top teir Ice unstoppable, along with Jade gear users. Besides, jewel socketing already adds boosts like that. If KingsIsle were to develop something like this, they'd have to be very careful with what skills they put in. If there was one dominant skill tree set up in for PvP, then players who chose skill trees that can't effectively work around it are gonna have a very difficult time in PvP. Sure, it might work for Pirate101, but Wizard is VERY different from Pirate and is designed differently as well.

Twas mere examples of course, I hold no hopes out for them to be implemented but of course if they do get added in some way then naturally it would be very School locked to how variant you can be and be more of what you can get in addition to, not instead of - allowing something like a daily-weekly tree reset to allow versatility and adaptation, even halve the timer for members even. It's a mere rough idea that I've observed from many other successful MMORPG's pull off successfully to make for interesting and fulfilling combat.

Again, these are mere figures to open discussion and are not representing any form of balance to the current game - solely to get the ball rolling towards a better and brighter future in this bleak, meta locked game.
