I, and I'm sure most other players, get clothes, wands and so on because I want the stats. I rarely pay any attention to the cards they come with.
most of the time, I ignore the cards when they show up in my hand and just discard them.
however there are times when I want to limit the number of cards and play hard and fast. I want each card that shows up in my hand to be something I'm going to use so that I can get through battles rapidly (such as when doing a collecting quest.). I know exactly which cards I need and what order to play them in.
At those times, the sideboard cards get in the way. There are times when they add several rounds to a battle, and drag it out while I discard a couple of cards every round, get more sideboard cards the next round, discard them and so on.
I would like to have a game settings feature that could be turned on and off which would disable the sideboard cards from even showing up in my hand. I could do this, of course, by taking off my gear... but then I wouldn't get the stat boost that I bought it, farmed it, for in the first place.

So taking it off isn't an option.
I see where you're going, but your use of the term sideboard had me confused as that's generally where you keep your treasure cards... I am torn on whether or not to support this suggestion as I have been there myself. However, I'm leaning toward not being in favor of support as this kind of thing becomes one of the balancing factors in choosing gear. I myself have gotten around it by either creating the cards I want as treasure cards and putting them in my side deck, or by training reshuffle so that I can do heavy discarding without fear of needing a discarded card later. I guess I could really go either way... I suppose I wasn't all that helpful with this particular response. Sorry about that.
