  1. He isn't the death teacher, (Malistaire was.) he is the death assaitiant.

Well, several others have told you that he s the assistant. And my idea is that it was meant to be something like an igor kind of character. Like in other stories. Plus he looks more SINISTER!!! I am sorry if this offends you Morgrim. At least I think that's the name of the death ASSISTANT.
