In the pagoda and winterbane gauntlet those pets are not that rare.
Depends on what pets you are trying to get. A crown pet will drop a lot less than non-crown pets (from what I can tell)
Sorry if this bursts your bubble but none of the pets that you obtained are really "good" first gen pets (although there are barely any "good" first gen pets, most have to be hatched repeatedly to get good talents )

I don't keep duplicates of the same pets so my house doesn't get too crowded.
I bought a Big Red Farm so that I could have a total of 250 pets running around at once
But if I get the same pet twice I usually sell him/her to prospector Zeke. I know he takes good care of 'em OH I only don't sell if it's a hatched pet because I would never take a baby from their parents
