Can muted read conversations?

Hello -

Someone commented on a different thread that their sis was muted and her friends thought she was ignoring them because it looks like she has open chat...

So I have a few questions...

If a person with text chat is muted, is there still a speech bubble by their name like a regular text chatter? And can they read like a regular text chatter?

If a person with open chat is muted, does it still look like a regular open chatter with no bubble by their name? And can they read like a regular open chatter?

And in either case, they can only reply with menu chat, is that correct?

A few months ago, I thought a menu chatter answered a yes/no question I had typed out on open chat???

Anyone know?

When a players is muted either temporarily or permanently, their chat icon does not change.

They are able to read the conversations that are going on around them, but they have proven they cannot use the text chat responsibly and are therefore limited to only replying with the Menu Chat.
