can your pet cast a ward spell

my fire serpant says may cast fire ward but when i am in a battle it does nothing. i am getting really mad so can you tell me if your pet can cast a ward :(

I have a life minotaur that may cast life ward. It has cast it before. It seems to cast it after i get hit with a life spell. I suspect your pet will too at times after you get hit with a fire spell.
