Where is the boss Kagemooshu?

I have to fight kagemooshu in the tree of life but the arrow just point to an empty space near the tree!? I'm confused.

He is under the Tree of Life. You will need to battle one boss to get the Dagger of Shadows.

Once you get the Dagger of Shadows, you are told to stab the Tree with the Dagger to activate a portal to Kagemooshu and the Death ONI.

You have to approach the Tree, and you should get an interactive "x" to use. That will open a portal off to the side, and when you enter the portal you will meet him. Try walking around the tree until the "x" appears.
