I've been running around the Village of Sorrow, because I heard that there is a tunnel there that leads to three candles, and if you light the candles a portal appears which takes you to Tomugawa.

tomugawa is in acient burial grounds, not village of sorrow.
You are a little confused i see Dont worry i was confused at first too when i did that. So here is how you find it. 1. Its in the burial grounds. 2. Go to the matra ( or what ever its called ) of the first brother. 3. If you look around the room there is three candles. Light them and enter the spirit world.
