It's a game bug that has to do with updating the distance through the Quest Helper Arrow. It happens in certain areas of Mooshu If you run into lag, just turn off the arrow (CTRL+T toggles it) while you're moving. Stop and turn it on to get your bearings, and turn it back off when you move again.
