Recently I have noticed that when I feed my pets Crown items, I only receive a reward about half of the time. Meanwhile, anything else I feed to my pets, I receive a reward 100% of the time.
If I am, in fact, receiving a reward for some of these Crown items, it is not notifying me.
I do like the extra benefits after feeding a pet an item, and am dismayed when I see the Crowns items behaving as if I merely trashed them.
