Uniform Potential in Critical Spells

There is a large imbalance in certain spells when a critical rating is hit. One example is the death spell empower. If a critical is achieved during that spell the wizard is going to sustain a respectable amount of damage, even with a shield up. That seems justified. However the same rating is not achieved in the spell's positive effect.

If it is going increase the damage it should increase how many pips are produced, or any other positive aspect of why such a spell is cast in the first place. I'm not sure if there are similiar spells in the other schools that this is the case with them, but IMO its something that should be addressed.

Interesting. I don't use Empower any more so haven't noticed this. On Sacrifice, it does increase the positive: The heal is 3x as powerful as well! Would be something worth looking into KI.

But is Empower really that useful for you now? In CL you should mostly be getting power pips anyway. The turn it takes you to use the spell would gain you pips anyway. Maybe that turn would be better used to shield, blade or trap. Just making the suggestion.

An empower treasure card can give you four pips. With the critical system the way it is now those that number of extra pips can turn the tide of battle.

Especially if the pips increased accordingly to critical with amount of damage sustained by the caster.
