Says I need to kill War Oni again when I did

So I defeated the War Oni in the Crimson Fields with two friends. I talked to Hoi Mang and he gave me the quest to defeat him.

Is this a seperate quest when I need to defeat him twice, or is it a bug?

Yes, there are multiple quests to defeat the War Oni including: To the Front!, Warlord Katsumori and Bottled Up.
