Blue 1 on Treasure card

Hello!
I see next to the power pip requirements a Blue 1 on several of my cards. Just to the right. Example I have it Mystic Colossus requires 5 pips and has a blue 1.

I noticed I can never seem to play it even with 5 pips. I figured the blue 1 has something to do with it?

That is a Shadow Pip. That spell will be in accessible until you learn Shadow Magic in Khrysalis. About level 90-95.

The blue pip is a Shadow Magic pip. You won't be introduced to Shadow Magic until you reach level 90 or so and complete the first half of Khrysalis.

Those are Shadow Spells and can not be used with regular pips or power pips.

The initial information can be found on this page.

That blue "1" means that in addition to the other Pips or Power Pips, that you also need one Shadow Pip. See the details for that Treasure Card:Mystic Colossus here: http://www.wizard101central.com/wiki/TreasureCard:Mystic_Colossus#axzz4j4VCnWde

And this link explains the Shadow Pips: http://www.wizard101central.com/wiki/Basic:Spells#axzz4j4VCnWde

On that link, scroll down to Shadow Pips where it says: For Shadow Pips:

Once Wizards complete the quest Shadow Dancer in Khrysalis and receive their first Shadow Spells, they will be able to obtain Shadow Pips in duels. Shadow Pips have their own little section that they appear in, so they do not take up space where regular Pips and Power Pips appear. At first, Wizards will only be able to receive up to one Shadow Pip at a time. Once they finish the quest Higher Learning, Wizards will be able to receive up to a maximum of 2 Shadow Pips. Shadow Pips are used to cast Shadow School spells, and Shadow Enhanced regular school spells. Some items will give Wizards an increased chance of receiving Shadow Pips.
