You can craft some items on the Basic Crafting Table, you buy the recipes from Eudora, that lady in Olde Town. After you level up, you'll need to buy the Housing Crafting Station from a furniture vendor on Krok or higher worlds. The recipe vendors in the commons areas on all worlds sell recipes for housing items.
