Lord of winter says it takes three pips but then how come when I get hit by it if I have 4 power pips the spell takes 3 of them and not the normal amount of pips that equal 3?

Unfortunately the description on the spell is deceptive. The spell destroys three pip slots, not three pips. Pip slots can be filled with either regular pips or power pips. This means that this spell can destroy anywhere from 3-6 pips realistically. I am currently in the process of evaluating this spell from a PvP perspective.

Thanks for the full explanation, I love to pvp as well, but it seems like a more powerful more expensive mana burn for ice thats about it

Just like how mana burn does the same thing and takes 3 power pips or 2 powers and 1 normal.
