For those having issues winning your new spells I have an idea you can try. Instead of focusing on boosting your damage try changing your outfit to increase your resistance to the schools you are fighting. I have done that with a couple fights and won them pretty easily. When you have 70% or more resist in your outfit you take little damage from the usually big hits like Leviathan and Efreet.
