There is no best gear, it depends on the character's needs. The most sucessful gear I've seen is either the Waterworks gear or Wintertusk crafted gear. Its pretty much a tie between them. If you don't like the stats of these, then I would say the new Avalon craftable gear works good as well. Most gear has some kind of flaw but it really just depends on your character's stats.
-Please note that to get the crafting items you must complete crafting quests in all main worlds.
