Detonate Spell for Fire School

I have the new spell, Detonate for Fire School, but can not do anything with it. :( I tried the spell over a dozen times, but nothing happens, except that it uses 4 pips. Is it that I dont understand the spell, or is something wrong with the spell? Thank you.....

Are you using it on an opponent with an active damage over time spell on them like the card description states?

After you use a DOT spell place it on the subject boss or whatever, it will then activate you have to hit fist with DOT spell then detonate,
