Are there many older gamers playing W101?

You are being so unrealistic but i agree.

They have made open chat for 18+ which is Adult only. you can see if they have open chat or not. thats enough for saying your age. If they have the Regular chat, that shows they are a kid.
Not unrealistic at all. Open chat is only available if you have put in a credit card, not if you are an adult. If they are a crowns player, no open chat. So that's not a good way to judge if someone is a kid or not. Text chat is available to teens. An adult could easily pose as a teen and try to get info from a minor. That's the whole purpose of KI's chat system, to keep kids safe. If that means I can't say a few word or numbers, then so be it.

Yep.

My account has regular text chat, and I'm middle-aged. Even though I play it the most, my tween-age son still plays sometimes and for his sake I'm not going to allow open chat.

To be honest, I prefer it that way regardless. I normally don't mind the white-list, as it's extensive enough. I do wish I could say "argh" instead of "ugh" sometimes, though.

I'm not old, but I'm at the top of the stack in terms of school. I never tell my friends that I play this game because I started playing it within the first year it was out, so sticking with a game this long makes me feel like a real veteran, haha

College student here. One of the great things about this game (and Pirate101) is the variety of people that you're able to meet. Young and old, different cultures, different backgrounds ... I love it. It's great seeing a game that pretty much anyone can enjoy. I really wish people looked beyond "oh, it's just a kid's game." It's a family game, not a kid's game. There is a difference. Family games are meant to entertain not only kids, but their older siblings, parents, and even grandparents.

Hi. I have to agree with a lot of you. There are a lot of older players (younger player myself) and the game is fun and I love even without the drama or not. Some of you though keep saying it's because of the kids and teenagers, keep in mind adults can also be rude and have been source of drama. Though it is true it is mostly kids, adults have done it before. I've been called names and scammed by people with open chat that had high usage of vocab. (There were a lot of ... in their sentences) but yes. Lots of adults play the game and play it with their kids. Which is nice, and most people on the game are nice :D Wizard101 is a great starter for gamers and a game they will hopefully play forever.

Although I am a Grandmother myself....my Mom plays too! We love it! Would love to have a title though we could put up like "oldtimer doesn't mean ask me for crowns"....that way the younger kids would know that, 'no' we don't want to be your girlfriend, and 'sure' we will jump in and help anytime we can!!!

Yes M'am there are lots of older players on the game. My husband, myself, and several of our adult friends have played for years. Since arent supposed to mention ages, I will just say.....I have grandchildren, so no, there is nothing wrong with you playing, at all :)

This is glorious.

I, myself, am in my early 20s and I enjoy this game very much. After playing for so long, you get past the doubt or the embarrassment that this is a "kid's game" because it's really not. The game has more than enough features to interest players of all ages!

P.S

Remember the speech from the Soul Scavenger boss in Krokotopia?

"I will feed on the light in your eyes."

...

Yep, definitely not a kid's game.

I hit the Double Nickel several months ago and I have been playing this game for a couple of years. I am currently playing a level Life School wizard and also a level 39 Balance School wizard. I really like that they allow you to join a random team on dungeons and bosses.

I have been on Wizard101 for years.
I was introduced to Wizard101 by my cousin.
At that time when I first played it I saw Wizard101
as a colorful and very unique game. And it's gotten
better over the past years! I love Wizard101 and wish
for more colorful updates in the future.

They do have a menu chat option for stating your level, at least... The only time I've had an issue with it really, is when talking about a wizard that I'm not logged in on, which I don't do very often. I understand wanting to be able to chat freely, but if it hasn't changed by now, it's not going to change. I like the reasoning behind it - to protect young kids - so I've just accepted it and don't let it bother me.

Seven years later (since someone last posted on this topic)... I notice fewer player in general are playing. I solo anyway, just playing quest lines (no pvp). Just curious if older players have a time and place where they gather.
