Pets equipped in Gear Set Bonuses

For the Gear Set Bonuses, can the Pet equipped in the Set be a Hybrid Pet, or must it be a First Generation Pet. Does it matter?

I don't think that Pets are involved in any existing Gear Sets.

Yes, Pets are part of some of the Gear Bonus Set. Like this one:

And on this link, you can click on each set to see what Items are listed so far as being part of the Sets:

All of the gear from the new Primeval Hoard Pack includes a Pet for the Gear Set Bonuses (Ex: Fossil Avenger's Set, Fossil Hunter's Set, Fossil Warrior's Set).

I'm sure there are more. Feel free to check out that list of Sets.
