Malistare's name origin

Anyone know where Malistare's name came from? I swear i have heard it outside of W101! Was it the name of someone from Mythology? Did Kingsisle make it up? If anyone knows can you please reply.

Well "mal" means bad, as in malice and malevolent, and there is a Malastare in Star Wars.

my theory: it's a combination of malice+ alesteir crowley (a 19th-century occultist~ interestingly enough, some of his work was referenced in the necronomicon, the book of life and death that was the basis for the krokonomicon).
